Chanel Iman, is considered the most successful African-American High Fashion Model of her generation.
Born December 1, 1990, in Atlanta, Georgia to a half Korean, half African-American war baby, Chanel Iman grew up studying fashion magazines and practicing poses in front of stuffed animals.
At age 14, Chanel signed with the Ford Modeling Agency and would win 3rd place in Ford’s “Supermodel of the World” contest.
Ever since her 1st season in 2006, top designers from Marc Jacobs to Louis Vuitton include Chanel Iman in their A-list line up.
Chanel Iman has worked for Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, John Galliano, Tom Ford, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Hermes, Jean Paul Gaultier, Alexander Mc Queen, Ralph Lauren, Micheal Kors, Oscar De La Renta, and Givenchy, just to name a few.
Chanel was the first Black model to walk for Gucci in 8 years.
In 2007 Chanel was selected by Anna Wintour, Editor in Chief of Vogue magazine, to be 1 of 10 models Vogue named as the “world’s next top models.
